Journey Forward Art

PL Developments Journey Forward Art Project inspires creativity within and outside our doors. Inviting students and artists to enhance our environment with their art work, our project encourages the passion for individuality in the artists and in ourselves.

We invited university and high school students to participate in our project. Using our pharmaceuticals as their subject matter, the students have used their talents and imaginations to Journey Forward. We have extended the invitation to the art community, asking artists to loan PL Developments art work for exhibit in our facility and become part of an on-going, changing collection of emerging contemporary artists.
A donation will be made to various charities in honor of every artist that participates in our Journey Forward Art Project.

We invite you to begin the Journey... Contact us at lsinger@pldevelopments.com.

PLD Green

PL Green

As consumers world-wide become more and more environmentally savvy, “green” has become the way to go in business. Many of our customers have seen the positive impacts of going green; for the well-being of our planet, the industry, as well as business. Their initiatives, in response to consumers’ demand for more environmentally-friendly practices, affect their expectations of us, and have given PLD one more reason to take on the responsibility of protecting our environment.
I am pleased to say that PL Developments is actively pursuing efforts to build and maintain sustainable practices throughout our processes and procedures company-wide. This initiative applies to resources, energy, and business partnerships. We are aggressively enlisting the support of sustainable-practice organizations and environmentally-conscious companies that can lend us their experience and expertise in this endeavor. We have already implemented new practices that will lead us in the ‘green’ direction.
The Sales Group has started pushing our customers to choose ‘greener’ options for their items. Our quotes include a “green” alternative, and the environmental implications of that choice. About one-third of American garbage consists of packaging material, which is thrown out immediately, according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. In a joint effort with Creative Services, the Sales Group has streamlined packaging options for many items and displays, eliminating excess material and production time. Customers, including Sam’s Club, have already accepted these greener alternatives.
The warehouse and factory have also become an integral part of PLD’s ‘green’ efforts by recycling ink cartridges and corrugated materials. Creative Services and Purchasing/Planning have begun sourcing suppliers that use recycled materials and environmentally-efficient processes. Additionally, Quality Assurance, Production, and our building technicians will be working with our power supplier to determine cost-effective and sustainable sources and methods of energy for our facility.
We still have a long way to go. Over the next year, we will be pursuing certification with the U.S. Green Building Council, which recognizes buildings that positively impact our natural environment and economy. The U.S. Green Building Council is an internationally recognized community of leaders working to transform the way commercial construction affects the environment. Certification with this organization will give us the recognition and credibility we need to satisfy our customers and fuel our efforts. Ideally, certification will further encourage other customers to reckon with the environmental challenges that face us all our responsibility to our environment.
The internal response to help out with the ‘green’ project has already been substantial, but everyone’s input is necessary. If you would like to be a part of this project, please email or call me with ideas and suggestions. The NYSDEC also recommends some things you can do to contribute to PLD’s efforts during your workday:
• Print double-sided.
• Don’t print emails unnecessarily.
• Use electronic files instead of paper copies as often as possible.
• Turn lights off when rooms are not in use.
• Unplug your phone chargers and other gadgets that usually remain plugged in overnight.
• Don’t waste paper products; tissues, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.
• Use dishes and utensils in the kitchen, instead of paper.
• Pack lunch in reusable containers.
• Purchase organic foods from local markets.
• Be sure to use non toxic or recycled office supplies.
• Purchase office supplies from businesses with the environment in mind.
• If you cannot carpool or use mass transit to get to work, keep your car in top condition with regular maintenance, for fuel efficiency.
